Creative Fields: Workshop, Exhibition Design, Industrial Design
The exhibition DESIGNING CRAFT CRAFTING DESIGN explores the collaborative relationship between craftsperson and designer. Under the guidance of the design collective diaméter, students of the Royal College of Art (RCA) London have been urged to reflect upon their position as designers in an urban context as well as in relation to and in contrast with the practices of their collaborators at Werkraum Bregenzerwald, who preserve certain working traditions within a regional craft community. The intersection of these young designers and master craftspeople is told through a journey-led exhibition, depicted through three thematic stages: material culture of Bregenzerwald, visibility and invisibility of craft, and re-contextualizing and reimagining materials and practices. Acting as research laboratory were the workshops of Felder Metall, Mohr Polster, Tischlerei Bereuter, Oberhauser & Schedler Bau, Strolz Leuchten, and Schwarzmann, das Fenster.
